Meet Alma, one of the featured artists in our music library. You’ll find her song “Homecoming” in our “Cute” Editing Style. We love Alma’s song, and the great movies that are being created with it, and reached out to her to find out more about her story and the story behind “Homecoming”.
Alma is a singer/songwriter from Madison, Wisconsin, now based in Chicago, who has been playing music since she was in seventh grade. She says, “My goal as an artist is to start conversations—both between you & me and between you & other listeners—about things that matter. I can’t talk about everything that matters, obviously, but it’s my hope that whether I’m singing a song about love or anger or hope or regret you will be led to ask questions.”
Alma told us the story behind her song, “Homecoming”:
When I first moved to Chicago as a junior in college, everything about the city was beautiful & enchanting to me. But as the daily grind of the school year began to set in, I became extremely lonely and withdrawn—to the point where almost every other weekend I found myself bussing back to my hometown in Wisconsin.
In the midst of this hard time, though, God met me in some beautiful ways. On my daily commute, I got to experience many beautiful sunrises from my seat on the elevated train, and it was one of these mornings that gave birth to the song “Homecoming.”
