Video Mashup Pays Homage To Baseball, Past & Present

baseballblogpostimageEarlier this week we teamed up with Rawlings, one of the world’s oldest and most recognizable sports brands, to celebrate baseball with our Lil’ Big League Movie Contest. We’ve invited fans of the game to create baseball-inspired Movies using Magisto for the chance to win Rawlings gear.

A love of Baseball has been an American obsession for well over 100 years. Founded in 1887, Rawlings has been an integral part of the game since its earliest days. To celebrate this long history, we’ve created a mashup of some of baseball’s best moments, past and present, including footage from this week’s All Star Game and related festivities. It features one of the earliest recordings of Take Me Out To the Ball game sung by Edward Meeker in 1908 on Edison Records.

We love how this juxtaposition of old and new reveals the extent to which baseball has remained a constant over the past 100+ years. Sure, everything from fashion to politics has changed. Video technology has allowed us to capture clear, colorful images of the game instead of the grainy black-and-white images of baseball past. But the game has changed little over the years – the crowds are still there, cheering for their teams, eating hot dogs and singing ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’, while the players hit impossible pitches out of the park. When it comes to baseball, things aren’t much different today than they were one hundred years ago.

We’d love to see your homage to the game of baseball – whether it’s a mashup like we created, footage of a Little League or Big League game you played in or attended. To enter your baseball Movie for the chance to win a $100 Rawlings gift card, just include #AllStar in the title. All #AllStar Movies can be viewed in a dedicated Rawlings album at We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
