Today we’re excited to announce the launch of the Magisto Chrome app – a new platform for users to access our automatic video editing platform. Back in May, coinciding with Google I/O, we announced the launch of the app on the Google Chrome Developer Channel. Today it is available to all Windows and Chrome OS users, with OSX support coming in the next Chrome release.
Chrome Apps are a new kind of app for your computer – just like the apps you have on your smartphone or tablet, but desktop-based. They are always up to date, hold your place across all of your computers, and can be launched from an app launcher, outside of your Web browser. We’re honored to be one of the first of these apps, right alongside Google’s consumer launch of Chrome Apps!
With our Chrome app, users will be able to create Movies using the same process as on our iPhone, Android and Web apps – select photos and videos, choose a video style, song and title and sit back while Magisto creates a Movie. What sets the Magisto Chrome app apart from our traditional web app at Magisto.com is that it incorporates offline functionality, allowing users to quickly transcode and process very large videos, regardless of whether they are offline or online.
These days, consumers are juggling multiple devices, from smartphones and tablets to desktops and laptops, and we realize they are looking for flexibility and ease of use across all these platforms. We’re thrilled to have found in the new Google Chrome apps yet another way to let our users access Magisto and can’t wait to hear what you think!
