Last month we teamed up with Sonicbids, the leading online platform that connects bands with music lovers, music promoters and major brands to help them engage new fans and book shows, and invited musicians to create Movies featuring their own music for the chance to play at the Sonicbids Official SXSW Party. The party goes down at Maggie Mae’s in Austin this Friday, March 14, from 11:30 to 5:30, and we’re excited to share the winning bands that will be playing there – Death On Two Wheels and Air Traffic Controller!
Death On Two Wheels goes on at 11:30am. These Atlanta, Georgia gems are the winners of our Battle of the Bands contest. Over a hundred bands submitted movies featuring their own music, but Death On Two Wheels, featuring Trae Vedder, Jake Bubacz, Stuart Roane, Alec Stanley and Greg Neel, really stood out to us because of the awesome movie they submitted. You can check it out below:
The winning band from our Battle of the Fans contest, Air Traffic Controller, will be playing the Sonicbids party as well, going on at 1:30pm. Air Traffic Controller, made up of members Dave Munro (lead vocals, guitar), Casey Sullivan (bass, banjo, lead vocals), Steve Scott (lead guitar, keys), Richie Munro (drums), Kiara Perico (viola) and Alison Shipton (violin), actually began when Dave Munro was serving in the US Navy as a real-life air traffic controller.
Air Traffic Controller was one of eleven bands included in the music library of our new ‘Rock On’ editing style and won our contest by having the most movies made using their song. The winning fans from the Battle of the Fans contest will be announced in the coming days – stay tuned!
