Jerry Garcia’s music embodied love, creativity and community at a time in American history twisted by a tumultuous social and political climate. This summer Jerry Garcia’s Band ‘On Broadway’ was officially released celebrating Jerry Garcia’s thirteen night run on Broadway featuring three previously unreleased sets from October 28th, 1987. ¬†Tracks from this historic album were featured within Magisto for the first time ever and inspired a whole new user experience for the Magisto community to embrace.

Inspired by the life and music of this legendary musician Magisto released the Jerry Garcia theme in conjunction with the last Grateful Dead concert to take place over July 4th weekend in Chicago at Solider Field. We invited our community of creative storytellers to interpret the songs and enjoy the concert experience while making their Magisto movies. What we received back was a celebration of music, love, family and life. We think Jerry would be pleased.

Today, we are excited to celebrate Andrea Brown, our #JerryRIPS video contest winner.

“I was born and raised in Southern California until I was about 17 but have been lucky enough to also live in such places as Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Missouri and Omaha. While I’m no professional in photography, I did graduate at the University of Utah and acquired a BFA with a photography emphasis about 15 years ago and still love to incorporate photography and music into the art I still create. Currently though, I am a CrossFit Kids and a Children’s Yoga Instructor at CrossFit Sandy in Sandy, Utah.¬† I was introduced to the music of both Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead at the early age of 12 by my older sisters’ boyfriend at the time. One of my first concerts was seeing The Jerry Garcia Band play at the Greek Theater in L.A. with my 2 sisters and my love for Jerry and the music the Grateful Dead gave us has been strong ever since.
Thank You for enjoying my FareTheeWell compilation! In the last 8 months, everything from coloring my mail order envelope, getting GD50 tickets, attending the shows in Chicago, to making this video for Magisto and now, winning your contest has been such an unforgettable experience and I’m grateful for every bit of it.”
