Battle of the Fans: Meet Black Pistol Fire

This month we’re rocking out with a new theme called ‘Rock On’ and a ‘Battle of the Fans’ video contest. We’ve invited 11 Sonicbids bands to have their music included in our ‘Rock On’ theme and battle it out for the opportunity to play at SXSW. In this series of blog posts we meet the bands. Click here for more profiles.

black pistol fireEric Owen (drums) and Kevin Mckeown (guitar, vocals) of Black Pistol Fire have been friends since Kindergarten. They grew up in Toronto, Canada but now spend a lot of time in Austin, TX.

With inspirations including CCR, Zeppelin, The White Stripes, Ty Segall and early Kings of Leon, the band features a wild and energetic rock-and-roll sound” that, according to their Facebook page, “has been described as a mix of classic southern rock and garage punk, garnering comparisons to early Kings of Leon, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Black Keys, and Clutch.”

The band tells us that their song “Dimestore Heartthrob”, which can be found in our ‘Rock On’ theme, is “an energetic garage rocker about pretty things that really aren’t worth much.
